This particularly crosses over between owners and groomers under “to be protected from pain, injury, suffering and disease” point. Owner responsibility: 🐾Keep the coat in a healthy and clean condition 🐾Depending on what breed you have it may require brushing every day 🐾Recently the more popular breeds such as cockapoo, cavapoo, and cavashon are particularly prone to matting and it is recommended that they are groomed between 4 weeks and 8 weeks (depending on your lifestyle and brushing regime) Groomer responsibility: 🐶Prioritising the dogs welfare above anything else 🐶Ensuring that all equipment is correctly used and used in a safe manner 🐶Working with the owner to achieve the best possible outcome from the session - sharing knowledge and support for at home grooming However if your dog is matted we must do what is right for them and that could mean shaving the coat - no groomer wants to do this, it’s uncomfortable for your dog, it’s much harder work for us and it damages our equipment.
